Dreams
They were wings to fly on and oceans to freeze over with our imagination
They were our monsters and our weapons and our laughter
Remember the spies around every corner, waiting to claim us
Remember the beasts in the court yard, and remember that some of us became them
Nothing would ever change
We were stuck in a living dream from which no one would seek to escape
Yet we did
We forever challenged the barriers of sleep and sanity
We forged our own world, our own realm within the dream, all ours for the taking
So carelessly put together that it only took one thread to unravel the fabric of our time
They were towers, now crumbling and rivers now crusted in salt
We woke up amongst strangers and lived as such
Those days of dreams still call out, when nothing could ever touch us and the past did not matter
We know that those who leave can never return, and so we begin again
We build the walls for a new home
Never again so separate from the world, but always fighting against it
That is our nature
Never again shall we fall so deeply asleep, but we will forever dream
