To The Sky
A young man walks today with his head held to the sky.
No one special to the people passing by.
They don't know the pain that has dwelled within
Or how loved he is through all of his sin.
They don't know of the God that has made him this way.
They don't see the soldier's heart that beats inside him today.
They know nothing of the trials this man has endured.
They see only the man who has grown and matured.
His heart beats for Jesus
It's scarred and it's broken
But only the Lord sees these hardships unspoken.
Wronged many times
They outweigh the rights
The things he has done
All the sleepless nights
Still this man carries his head held up to the sky.
God has taken his baggage, and called this man "mine".
Rock bottom had hit
Still the Lord was right there.
His only comfort in the times of despair.
Today this young man, with his head held to the sky, is my constant reminder of all the hard times
And how to get through them
And how to survive
And how to remember that God's on my side.
Sometimes he's lonely but he's never alone because myself and the Lord, well, we love him so.
