Every Now and Then
Every now and then my thoughts
float high above my head.
I should be reading my literature book,
but I'm day dreaming instead.
Every now and then my
nervous heart skips a beat or two.
Presenting my historical book report,
My teacher urges me on through.
Every now and then my pen
refuses to obey my mind.
Doodling instead of taking notes
The reason I can not find.
Every now and then my eyes
skim the pages of my science book.
Now you see, how much less
time that took?
Every now and then my paper ball
doesn't make it into the trash-can.
I purposely color outside the lines,
just because I can!
Every now and then my alarm clock
rings just way to early.
Mean while this class will soon be over
come on lunch bell... hurry.
Every now and then I want to change.
Be more skinny and tall like Pam.
But then I ask "You know what, self?"
I'm happy the way I am!
