A Message in the Eyes
A whirl of silvery white starts to rise around me
It rises over my head and I begin to suffocate,
I try to lift my head above the snowy wind, but it's no use
The rush of wind starts to slow and the color begins to take shape,
I begin to catch my breath but I stopped as I took in the view
I stare in awe at the great animal as it looks at me,
Its gigantic dog like head tilts slowly, with eyes calm yet talkative,
Its broad shoulders rising and falling with each soft step
My eyes closed,
My heart, like a race car, in my chest as the animal's breath touches my face
I reopen my eyes and notice the animal,
No more than a figurine in the distance now
It nods its head and jumps gracefully off its snowy rock
I turn my back towards the disappearing animal,
Our encounter no more than a memory now
I won't forget its grace, its beauty
For now its gone along with its wondering eyes and a message the wolf had given me
It was a message of strength,
A message of protection,
A message of who I am becoming
