Changing
Words,
Taken at face value,
Mean nothing.
The words I sing,
Scream, chant,
They too are nothing.
A kid in another country,
Counting days,
Hours,
Seconds,
His murmured words,
His whispered prayers,
They mean more than we could ever see.
His searching gaze,
Beating heart,
Unspoken thoughts,
They are more than i'll ever be.
They carry truth that you'd never see,
He is him more than I am me,
First betraying glance,
You'd think we were equal.
But truthfully,
Really,
I am nothing and he is everything.
