Got The Best of You
The day me and sis visited you was the day you looked the best
Your eyes were pure white like the sky filled with clouds and your dark brown eyes weren’t see through like they used to be
Your scruffy beard was shaved off but was still a little prickly
I never knew why you hurt yourself, your life wasn’t bad
I remember being your little girl but I felt so used
You have three beautiful children, but it was never really your concern
Your drugs, the beer, and the diabetes you had
It all got the best of you when things started getting worse
We didn’t want to see you since you were always so angry and bitter
Now I’m never going to see you and it was your choice
You knew you were dying and you wanted to sacrifice
Your life
