Smile, God loves you :)

Oh heart, why are you so afraid

Timid and forlorn?

Speak out now for you are not

And never were alone…

There were rumors of your misconduct

You were punished and then defamed

But never should I have shackled a heart

That was never meant to be tamed…

What has become of you I do not know

But know I that I was wrong

To tie you up in chains so tight

And keep you trapped for so long…

You were so content back then

With no room for grief or doubt

I held you back, listened to my head,

Ignored your screams and shouts

But in the process I have changed

People ask me if I’m alright

All I want to say out loud is that

My heart gave up the fight.

Now, it doesn’t speak to me

Just thuds and thuds all day

I have started thinking logically

But am I going the right way?

So I tell my heart to go on,

“You are free to wander around…

To feel the joys you had felt before

You are now no longer bound!”

Is it too late to shake it up

And bring me back to life?

Without ones heart and its advice

Can one truly be alive?

“I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way: The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear.” -Edgar Guest

Holy cow! This is good. I don't think this is one that needs any advice. Well, aside from the formatting, which I don't know how to fix anyway. I loved it, especially the last and the second stanzas. I also like the lines: "To tie you up in chains so tight/and keep you there so long." Very powerful and thought provoking! Great job, 5/5!
