"there's a darkness upon me that's flooded in light, and i'm frightened by those that don't see it" ~the avett brothers, head full of doubt

It is a cold November evening
The streets are empty
The lights from the houses shine on the pavement
Families are in their kitchen preparing the meals
For the night of thanks

Outside a homeless girl wanders
Looking in the windows
To see people happy and warm
While she is alone and hungry

With each passing home
She feels more and more hurt
But she does not complain
She does not say a word
She just walks on
Even though she is forsaken by all
She still trusts
In her God

The author's comments:
wrote this for school in 9th grade. the assignment was to write something about thanksgiving and it had to be religious(go to a christian school) and in my rebellion i wrote this and titled it faith to show that she was anbandoned, even by God, but was still foolish enough to have faith
