Wonderful Drops of Water
Suddenly a drop of water hit the windshield.
Whuh? I thought.
Then another.
Huh?
Then another and another and another,
Wonderful drops of water hitting the windshield.
What’s going on? What’s going on?
I was still too young to actually speak the words.
I found myself, from within our car, in the middle of a bunch of water, pouring from the sky!
What’s going on?! I repeated.
Everywhere there was water.
Wonderful drops of water surrounding our car,
Running down the gas station roof,
Splashing on the pavement.
From my car seat I leaned forward looking out the window.
Wonderful drops of water! I laughed with my little, kid giggle in sheer delight.
All the splashing everywhere made an amazing, wet din.
I was wonderful!
Driving down the road from the gas station,
Mommy rolled down the windows.
She liked how refreshing it was.
Now I did too!
Wonderful drops of water were hitting my face.
I smiled.
The cool, wet air filled my nose and little chest.
It was amazing!
Wonderful drops of water splashed on the arm rest next to me.
“It’s called rain, Andy,” Mommy said, smiling at me from the driver’s seat.
Rain! Wonderful drops of rain were splashing on my arm.
