The Time of Fall
The breezy wind blows—
time for school, time for weather change
time for football.
Trees change to red and gold, squirrels begin to hide their acorns.
Children rake the fallen leaves.
Its fall time
breezy days, and chilly nights.
Its afternoon walks and autumn admiring.
The season is turning
Golden-brown leaves flutter through the air.
Shadows grow where less light shows—
It is fall.
A little girl leaps on the sidewalk,
leaves crunching beneath her feet.
Dressed in jeans and a new sweater,
she picks the last few flowers.
Thoughts of warm soup her mother will prepare as home,
as she jumps in a pile of leaves.
It’s beautifully-brisk
It’s calmly-colored
It’s September and October
It is fall.
