Comfort
And with those few words
She finally understood
It was as if they had been standing in a dark room
And suddenly he had opened a window
Let the light show on his face
And she saw him for the first time
She realized that he had no respect for himself
So he had no respect for life
The facade he put on was an attempt
To gain his own approval
He tried to be what he wished he was
And in that moment her heart bled
For him and his pain
In his own world of judgment
She wanted to hold him
Tell him it was alright
Take him in her arms
And make him feel safe
Show him that he was loved
That it was okay to be himself
That he was beautiful
And that he deserved to be happy
