If I Wasn't Perfect
If I wasn’t perfect, would you still love me?
If I got C’s and D’s instead of A’s and B’s would you still say you’re proud of me?
If I drank beer instead of juice would I still be your little angel?
What if I shot up with heroin or sniffed crack?
If I could do that and still keep it all together would I perfect?
If I could keep up the façade of perfection, would that make me perfect?
Do I need to go to a four-year college, or get my PhD to make you happy?
Do I have to be a CEO of a company for the world to think I’m perfect?
Do I need to keep trying to impress you to be perfect?
They say beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, is it the same for perfection?
What if I try to be perfect for everyone?
Can I satisfy the dreams all my family has for me at once?
Can I go to college and leave with a degree in hand?
And would you care if the wrist that hand was attached to had scars?
Is that okay with you, as long as I’m perfect?
Is perfection an attainable goal?
Or do you think it’s just a far off memory, destroying those who try to obtain it.
Are you willing to force me towards perfections pearly gates, even if obtaining entry means losing me?
