Unspeakable
I can never say it.
I need you, but that’s not the same.
I want you, but you’re aware.
You like me, you say.
I like you too. And leave it at that.
I want to tell you.
But if I say it, then it’s gone.
It won’t be inside me anymore.
It will be exposed, raw, in the open.
In plain view of the whole world.
If I say it, then you will know.
I love you.

The room was very quiet. I walked over to the TV set and turned it onto a dead channel-white noise at maximum decibels, a fine sound for sleeping, a powerful continuous hiss to drown out everything strange."
