Journey
I’ve taken that journey before
The journey that we all take
At one time or another
When you learn…
You learn people will want to hurt you,
No matter how nice you are.
You learn hard work is required,
No matter how successful you could be without it.
You learn your mother is always on your side,
No matter if you believe it or not.
You learn innocence can’t last forever,
No matter how hard you hold on.
You learn to love yourself,
No matter how difficult that may be at times.
You learn true friends will always be faithful and understanding,
No matter what.
These years are long,
These years are painful,
These years…
These years are the most
important years of your life.
No matter how hard it hurts.
This is a journey you don’t take for a destination,
This journey you take to learn.
