Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time there was no time.
Once upon a time,
Homo sapiens were gutting antelope,
With no wristwatch.
Once upon a time,
We counted on our fingers,
And danced around fire pits,
Like flames.
But now,
The vibrations,
Of tick tock times up,
Rattle through our skulls,
As we move on,
To our next task.
Our next class,
Second,
Minute,
Hour,
Day.
God is watching us,
Jitter like critters,
With brain tumors.
Aware of every twitch,
Every itch,
Every blink,
When we think that we're thinking.
I now count my "duties",
On both fingers and toes.
And rarely,
Do I give myself the time of day.

My goal was to express how technology has been advancing us so quickly that sometimes we forget to leave time for ourselves to think.
