Hear This Now
You wish you were still a kid,
The cars and soft toys seem like such an easy bid.
Where Dad was the hero,
And Mom taught you numbers from zero.
Your best friend was surely a keeper,
And everything was just so much cheaper.
Where playing was our greatest flurries,
The studies were the least of our worries.
The present with no responsibilities,
The future with millions of opportunities.
It all seems like such a vague memory now,
As it all begins to go down.
You left behind your cars and soft toys,
To welcome the mobile phones and game boys.
Socializing becomes a priority,
And studies-- More like a necessity.
You feel lonelier than ever,
And fitting in seems like the greatest endeavor.
You don't speak to your bff for days,
And you start to keep your best friends at bay.
Remember, this pain ain't gonna go away,
'Cause the teenage years are here to stay.
So, learn to embrace the pain,
It's all a part of God's big game.
And though, sometimes, there is no one to wipe your tears,
You just have to learn to overcome your fears.
