If I could
I'd take away all the pain
I'd take away all the anger
I'd take away all your fears
and never give them back
If I could
I'd show you all the greatness
I'd give you al the joy
I'd give you all my hope
and never ask in return
If I could
I'd whistle you a lullaby
I'd hum you a prayer
I'd show you what can be
and then i'd take you there
If I could
I'd never say goodbye
I'd never have you leave
I'd have you both just stay with me
and our laughter would never end...

The author's comments:
I wrote this maybe a year ago after two of my best friends had moved away. They had graduated a year before that and one joined the army while the other went to work in a factory. The main thing that inspired this was when we'd talk both my friends would wish they had a longer time at home, or just one more summer to spend all of us together.
