I’ve grown up now
Can understand life
How people can act
How people can lie,

Thinking back to the things
I was told
From everyone around me
Young and old

From how I moved
From place to place
To how I was barely home
At my Aunts,
At my grandma’s
But barely with you,

I’ve been told
Some stories about you
How I barely spent time
At home cooking and cleaning

Memories I have
From once I was young
Do not involve you much
More with other family
Less with my own mom

You weren’t around much
When I was younger
Now that I am older
You want to be around more

I’m grown up now
And I want to be free
But now you’re trying to change
And make up lost time with your baby

I want to be away more
But you want me around
When I was so young
Your were nowhere to be found

Now is the time
For me to see you less and less
Now is the time
For you to finally let go
Of your 17 year old
Baby girl

My mom is very protective. I have been told stories about how when My siblings and I were young she would pawn us off to our other family members and not spend much time with us.
