Becoming...
As I stare deep into the flames:
“Wish for something!” they say. I smile. Try to think…what do I want?
The million dollar question… I want to change it all, be happy, fearless, strong, but how?
And why would wishing change that anyways, shouldn’t you have to do it yourself? It almost seems like cheating to me.
Think of all the people who actually need that wish, for food, safety, just a smile…but I am selfish and I hold the wish tight to me, this one thing is mine,
I close my eyes…slow…and let it out.
The fear, the tears, the wanting of this last year.
I will be born anew, a phoenix from the flames. Changed into something great,
I don’t need fate, or a Savior, I’ll do it all by myself,
the one person in this world you must always be able to trust.
Almost out on my own, don’t know if I’m ready, how do you tell?
It’s a mystery to me, but I’ll always remember history, my past,
because it will always define who you are and what you can and will become.
I am ready now…
