Detached
Leaning against the hard, rough bark,
I watched the big ball of fire and gas,
Sink lower and lower,
Into the cold dusted earth,
A wave of tenderness welled inside me,
Tears welled up in my eyes,
All alone I sat under that tree,
When the sun had just about set,
The edge of darkness quickly approaching,
My mind was at ease,
As I sat alone,
My eyes focused into the powdery blackness,
The night,
I stared for so long,
So long my eyes started to lose there focus,
Alone,
I was all alone,
Random fireflies zigzagged by,
There nightlights flickering like sparkle’s,
I smiled softly,
Looking around,
I saw them,
The creatures of the night,
Maybe I wasn’t so alone,
Physically no,
But inside, I’m hollow,
Blank,
Empty,
A wave of tenderness welled up inside,
Time to rest,
Time to forget,
Forget it all,
Resting back, I let my eyelids droop and close,
Flutter and close again,
Time to rest,
Lost in my dreams
