Broken Faucet
The dripping water
Continues as the already fallen
Drops go down the drain
Sliding through muck and grime
Grease and oil
And other perilous encounters
Never seen by it before
It travels like an electric current
Moving swiftly in the darkness
Of the elongated line
Just as quickly as it was born in the light
The head of the snake motionlessly
Sprouts new lives that fall to their doom
Once the mother lets go
Lives are lost each day
The head is not in control of itself
Little children constantly screaming
To be pulled back up to the mother
Who denies their pleas
Tired of the screams
It is finally tweaked to the right setting
The water stops dripping
Yet even though the mother has protected
Her children from slipping
The water droplets that went down the drain
Can never resurface
