Little Bird
Little bird,
Your chatter is useless,
No one can hear you through the darkness but I,
And what is a human to do?
I cannot help you,
Protect you from my kind,
Those monstrous machines we have invented,
To take away land that is rightfully yours,
Little bird,
The dawn is coming,
Other birds can hear you now,
You sing your universal song together,
And what are we humans doing?
We bicker,
Not sing,
Not in harmony,
But protest,
We are wickedness,
Evil,
Don’t worry, little bird,
One day things will turn around,
For you and all of your kind,
What will we humans do?
We have already began the damnation of our very souls,
And further into darkness we shall fall,
Until not one of us is left,
Not one,
And the earth shall be long to you once again,
Forgive us, little bird…
For we know not what we do.
