Guarded Heart
And now you know,
But somehow I can’t regret,
Because it’s better this way,
I’m terribly unsure,
And I’m not sure to what extent,
Your knowledge of my emotions may be,
But you know,
I welcome in a new day,
With the tear-filled eyes of the broken,
But I can’t bring myself,
To feel any remorse,
The moon is alive,
In the starlit sky,
Reminding me how far I am from you,
And it hurts,
The twinkling stars,
Are oh so large,
But to us they appear so small,
Like my guarded heart,
Forgive me in my insanity,
Accept me in my uncertainty,
Please, just break me,
So I won’t have to do it myself…
