The Holocaust Doll
A smile of crimson lips
Her cheeks flushed with pink
The perfect doll in the purest of white
With eyes of bright blue ink
Her smile never falters
But she’s never been this far
Inside she feels shaken up
As they mount on the train car
She tells her girl not to let go
And she’s gripped so very tight
Tears muffled by her plastic hair
As the train takes off in flight
Hard to breathe with so little space
But for the girl she perseveres
Comforts her and whispers songs
But not all too sure if she hears
Their destination is unknown
But together they’ll be all right
She plasters on the same bright smile
Holds the girl through the night
Yet the girl feels cold and limp
And the doll’s eyes widen with pain
She cries and begs the girl to wake
But now she’s alone on the train
