Favorite Quote:
A kingdom founded on injustice never lasts- Seneca, a Roman philosopher.

Caged like an animal
whining to be free
the memory-
the cage
him-
the animal

The lights
that blinded him
the handcuffs
that shamed him
but nothing,
nothing
was worse
than the hurt
in his father’s eyes

Why he did it
he himself did not know
shaming not
just him
but his parents

He yearned to go back
and stop his hand
from touching
that officer
but time goes forward
not back.

He waited from inside that jail cell
to hear the familiar
footsteps and squeaks
of his father’s Kenneth Coles
but no
perhaps his mother’s Aerosoles
but no
freedom’s footsteps
never came

This is one of my favortie poems. I'm not sure where I got the inspiration from, but it just came to me and I jotted it all down.
