Gametime
Many dream of living on the hard wood,
The long demanding hours,
Putting “sweat in the bucket” at practice,
And for what?
The opportunity of Gametime.
The smell of the varsity jerseys,
Past victories long imbedded into the stitching.
The pre-game thoughts of wearing your jersey number with pride,
And for what?
The opportunity of Gametime.
The stands, packed like a college bowl game,
The fans roaring in excitement as they await tip-off,
The nervous chill of anticipation you feel in every bone,
Like a wolf staring down its prey,
And for what?
The opportunity of Gametime.
The thought that the game could end in one final play,
Offense, defense, which will it be?
The thought that the last shot could end on you,
And for what?
The opportunity of Gametime.
