Is Ignorance Bliss?
Is it really better?
Better to have loved
And to have lost,
Than to never have loved at all?
Is it better to feel
That cold, ripping fear?
That empty, hollow space
Where the wind whistles through?
Is it better
To recover
Yet live on with that hole
That will never fill
Never heal?
Is it better to feel that jab,
That aching pain,
That tightness
'round your damaged heart
Every time you see
A happy couple,
A gentle arm around her waist,
A thoughtful kiss on his cheek?
Is it better to live on
Broken, damaged,
Willing to tear your heart out just to stop the pain?
Is it really better
Than never loving at all?
To not love
To not lose
To live normally
Blissfully in ignorance
Ignorant of that which would change you forever
To live your life
Unaware of what you missed
And what would've hurt you irreversibly?
To live your life,
Whole and undamaged,
Free of the patches,
The seams that would be all that held you together
To live life peacefully,
Free of that dark,
Pad locked, little corner in your heart
The one you vowed
Never to open
Is ignorance bliss?
Or would you prefer the pain of experience?
