"Love that we cannot have is the one that lasts the longest, hurts the deepest, and feels the strongest because True Love cannot be found where it truly doesn't exist nor can it be hidden where it truly does."---A wise young man

I thought of you today,
and the words you spoke of yesterday…

You said you loved me best,
and not to worry about the rest…

But to see your love not in your eye,
to know that it was her, and not I…

I suffered a blow that was so cold,
my heart now like the dead untold…

But then you wept a most dry tear,
for why I asked and you could not hear…

Your face of gloom, your eyes of sorrow,
in knowing that I would not be there upon tomorrow…

And when the sun shone high above the trees,
I was gone from within your leaves…

No more will there be a laugh or a song,
when you heart begins to pound like the gong…

No more will there be summer, or spring…
the colors all faded into the black of forever rings…

The times you said would be a never,
have with heartache and pain rung together…

I thought of you today,
and the words you spoke of yesterday…

And when I thought of them unfearfully,
a tear, not shed fell quietly…

How many more tears must be felt,
how many more fears must be dealt…

To know that you are no more,
to see before me the closed door…

Yes, I thought of you today,
and the words you spoke of yesterday…

But today was new, and I did not cry,
as I did when they were dry…

I did think of you today,
and those words you spoke to me on yesterday,

But did yesterday come? even at all?
or was it my imagination that nearly made me fall?

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece simply because I wanted to see a difference between the dramatic and the realistic. I wanted to show the side of a relationship where a girl simply expresses her feelings with thought. Here my heroine remains in a contemplative mood of the past rather than condemning the young man she was once in love with...
