Black Raindrops
The sky is torn
Black raindrops fall
I taste them on my tongue
One drop tastes like
Hot, bitter rage
Another tastes like
The blood and sweat
Of soldiers at war
And untold millions
Of people around the world
Struggling, fighting
Just to live
They taste like
Rotten fruit - dreams
Just out of reach
on the branches
Shriveled and gone to waste
They taste like
Skin, lust, passion
Dissolved into heartbreak
Polluted ocean water
Gnawing hunger
Grief and apathy
There are millions among millions
of them
Never ending
Terrible and wonderful
Chaos pain beauty
Forming puddles I
Look into and see
Distorted reflections
Haunted eyes
Staring back at me
From murky waters
The raindrops burn
In my mouth like acid
But I can't
Get enough of them
They fall
From clouds of cotton candy
Making those raindrops
Just a little bit sweeter.
