When I was Nine
When I was nine:
I never noticed the world around me.
I never understood the adult jokes.
I never thought about high school or college.
I never freaked out about grades.
I never ate healthy and
I never cursed.
I never paid for things on my own.
I never thought about love.
I never was part of the “popular” group.
I never talked back to my parents.
I never cared about the adult subjects.
I never thought about my future.
I never wanted to go shopping.
I never wanted to express myself.
I never care about the clothes I wore.
And now I do it all.
