Spring Break
Spring Break
I took a deep breath
My lungs filling like a birthday balloon
before entering the crowded room..
I know that I would have to brace myself.
Could this be real
I, unlike other playful kids,
had never really been to one of these places
I had seen them Night in the Museum
I knew they were in storytellers
But…
Could this be real
Everywhere that I looked I saw something new.
I felt like I was in a Hollywood movie
a David Attenborough documentary,
Something that was made up.
Could this be real
My eyes caught a bright orange
above my blown away head
I looked to see what it was.
I was shocked
Could this be real
A stuffed orange tiger jumping
off the open second floor overhead.
His striped flashing, a bright spotlight
Could this be real
He was not really jumping,
two front paws leaping off the floors edge
My eyes then darted to a stuffed graceful giraffe
He was as tall as our house back home, maybe taller
Could this be real
I look below the giraffes exhibit to see a colorful board
with all kinds of cool facts about the animal in the place
It said that giraffes were 2600 Lbs.!
I then saw a stuffed rhino with a big horn coming out of his head. .
Could this be real
My expanding mind and my eyes could not focus.
They were everywhere
Singing a joyful song.
Leaning and examining each thing.
Could this be real!
I had been to a real museum.
And not just any museum.
No, this was the National museum of history
In the U.S capital,
Washington D.C!
This was real!

I wrote this piece because I want to make a poem about my spring break and wanted to explain how amazing the museum really was.
