looking down
i sit
patiently
off the sky
and let
the high winds
kick my feet –
below,
the twee Earth echoes
eerie,
shrieky siren songs.
there is
a demon
by my side
singing
and laughing
how he’s won
and a
choir of angels
with arms
expecting my hold.
what if
i miss them?
even worse,
what if
they drop me?
i debate.
i hold
my last gasps
for next time
i talk
with Death Gods
i shall breathe –
under
my skin of leather,
my heart
weeps for shy shepherds.
my friends
wait for me
to select
their guild
to fly with
for the night,
either
grim apparitions
or their
obverse sanctity.
what if
they leave me?
even worse,
what if
they love me?
i digress.
