To Lose a Friend
We like to tell stories of loves mighty triumph
When the couple gets together at the end
Or the cute little letters that they like to send
But they never tell stories of how to get over a friend.
Because best friends are forever
it's kind of in the name
Yet sometimes we grow up we grow apart we go our separate ways
And the people in our lives today aren't meant to be there always
Somehow I think it's harder to get over a friend
Then it is a lover who left in the end
Cause love is one if those mysteries
That you can only ever get a glimpse of
But you've been making friends since you were 10
The people you loved before you knew what love was
The bonds you made that were supposed to be forever
Yet here we stand at the junction of life
Where we must part ways
And it hurts more because we grew together
Our roots are so entangled with one another's
It's impossible to see where yours start and mine end
Because we always thought we would be friends
In sickness and health, till death do us part
So how can I possibly live without you
Without your presence in my life
When the constant of you becomes another thing that falls away
When I have to learn how to lose a friend
