The Morning Practice Experience
I am the deep blue of the early morning sky
I am the only car on the dark lonesome road
I am the only car in the empty parking lot
I am a rush of caffeine
I am the light bleach of chlorine in my hair
I am the red goggle marks on my face
I am the dried out skin
I am the lingering aroma of chlorine
I am the burning air quality of the pool
I am the 3,000 yard set written on the shiny whiteboard
I am the freezing chill of the mundane locker rooms
I am not a fan of waking up at 4:30
I am not a fan of the icy cold pool
I am not a fan of those 3,000+ yard sets
I am not a fan of that cold locker room chill
I am not a fan of walking into class with a rats nest for hair
I am not a fan of having dried out skin
Yet, I do it all anyway
