as a teen

i live up to

society's standards

i have to like

the color pink or purple

i have to play

with dolls or makeup or mermaids

i have to wear

dresses and cute little shoes

i have to be

mature and a little lady

i have to sit

up straight and keep my legs together

instead,

i like

other colors like gray and green

i play

other games and toys

i wear

sweatpants and tees

i love

converse and black boots

i'm not

serious all the time

i don't

sit straight all the time

i can spread

my legs when i sit

and relax

that's probably not

what people think

a girl should do

but i still do it

and guess what?

im still a girl
