The universe must be a teenage girl. So much darkness, so many stars.

Try and fill up your tumbler with gray words

Words fall around me

They blow in on clouds like wild ponies

They howl like wolves

Words slip past my fingers

Words squeak under my bare feet

Echo in the fairgrounds

Turn to meet me in the darkness.

Words

I scan my eyes for the people on top of the roller-coaster

All I see are words tumbling down

Words weigh down my tree-root heart

They are armor that makes me indefensible

Many tiny moons walk past me—

Words that sever all my relationships

Words are the shadows beside the sun

Words are the ring around the moon

Words are streaks from watercolor streetlights

Words.

The author's comments:

A tribute to both the beautiful and destructive power of words. Also, a nod to the Wolf Girl Three-- "Words howl like wolves."

"It Will Be Good." (complicated semi-spiritual emotional story.)

"Upon his bench the pieces lay
As if an artwork on display
Of gears and hands
And wire-thin bands
That glisten in dim candle play." -Janice T., Clockwork[love that poem, dont know why, im not steampunk]

this is great!
