Growing Up
After a while you learn
The difference,
Between life and reality.
And you learn boys won’t run if you chase them.
And you learn your first kiss will be nothing like the movies.
And you begin to realize the rain doesn’t just go away.
And rainbows are rare.
And you begin to accept who you are.
And you learn to break barriers
Because tomorrow you may not have the chance.
After a while you learn
That warmth can get cold,
So you put more logs on your fire.
Instead of waiting for someone with a blanketed soul.
