Favorite Quote:
"With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts." - Eleanor Roosevelt

Tomorrow the sun will rise because defeat is a temporary low.

The work that didn't do it's job when I wanted it to

eleven o'clock and still hurting,

I see grey clouds, rain, and thunder in my father's face as he opens my bedroom door.

He told me, "Tomorrow the sun will rise."

After pep talks and fist bumps,

I write myself off in that moment.

The words "I'm not good enough" felt like a head rush,

Negative thoughts clutter my mind.

Everything felt like an overcast day.

Tomorrow the sun will rise,

At 5 A.M. with the optimal opportunity to get out of bed.

To give myself the one hundred percent chance of being better,

Better than the girl that left her mark the day before.

My flowers grow into something beautiful

Alike to the thick skin taking nasty, ugly downpours of criticism making me stronger

Which got me the award dedicated to working harder,

Plus I ignore the wilted plants in my head asking why I even bother.

The love and passion I have keeps me saying,

Tomorrow the sun will rise.

The author's comments:

This piece is about feeling defeated and doubting yourself too early. For my sport's team in high school there was a tournament I didn't play in. I was hurt and I was doubting any talent I had in the sport. My dad was a big inspiration for this piece because that day at school I was still upset and he texted me saying "The sun will come up tomorrow", so I changed the phrase up a little and threw my feelings into this piece.
