It’s amazing how time is passing

Months and years moving forward; massing

Into numbers calculating each year

In which I turn older; as it appears

I miss how things were before

Being young, carefree; as if I had wings to soar

Playing with friends, jumping around the house

My parents did everything for me; only I was free to rouse

Through the lush, green grass I ran

My feet kicking in moist mud; soon hardening as if sand

Now, I can’t do those things

Playing is now replaced with what responsibility brings

Taking care of myself, schoolwork, possibly job and money

These can pound stress onto me; along with skies no longer sunny

Nor is there innocently lacking worries

Melting deeply and floating like flurries

The sky now appears gray; uncertain

Towards what the future holds; covered as if by a foggy curtain
