On a Summer Evening
The evening is made silver by a thousand wings in moonlight
And his mind is shrouded in stars; there is smoky mystery in the air tonight.
The lack of light is solid, you could cut it with a knife
Where he stands seems ancient, somewhere on the edge of death and life.
But there is safety in that mystic glade
And by some hand that is not there, in the dew encrusted grass he is laid.
He is neither dead nor alive but he smiles at the ground
And wishes never to be found.
