Calling It Love
utter unoriginal, clichés into my ears
that sink and make me feel validated
touch me with sinful purposes
so that I feel like I might have a purpose
spill blinding light into my dark voids
and lead the light into my soul
so that I can tell myself you’re helping me
trap me in your endless little games
chain me up and force me to play along
so that we may pretend like this is real
tie me down so that I don’t float off
into the unknown, into the known
emptiness that comes with loneliness
kiss me and let me taste every
false compliment and every plagiarized
imitation of what a girl wants to hear
use me the way i want to be used
so that we may be tied down together
in a process of lying and breaking each other
and calling it love

Love is the most cruely amazing gift we have the unfortunate honor of experiencing.
