Silent Cries
Violence occurs every single day
Affecting society in a multitude of ways.
What most people don’t know
Is that even some of their closest friends
Aren’t as happy as they show.
Do you know what it’s like
To fake a smile everyday
Pretending like everything is okay?
But when you get home, the truth’s unveiled
You crumble and break down,
Feeling like you’ve failed.
Failed at everything you’re supposed to be
Waiting for a reason to continue living
Or even somebody’s helpless plea.
This, too, is a type of violence.
You versus yourself
In a ruthless battle of quietness.
When violence comes to your mind,
Remember punching and kicking aren’t the only kinds.
People cheat, spread gossip, and lie
Almost always harsh enough to make another cry.
Don’t hold your breath,
I’m just getting started.
There are countless varieties of violence
All executed by the fainthearted.
Youth violence is the most consequential kind.
Verbal and abusive both affect a child’s mind.
This can lead to depression and self-harm.
When that occurs, you must be alarmed.
We live in a pretty messed-up place
Where the only things important
Are money and the appearance of your face.
Perhaps this is the reason suicide rates are so high.
Teens feel pressured to live up to unfeasible standards
Just to get by.
So what if all of us in this messed-up place
Stopped judging and criticizing others?
Give that a taste.
Things would be much better, mark my words.
Because when push comes to shove,
We’re all the same.
Rolling the dice in life’s crazy game.
