Socialism's Scar

Communism, a belief of social equality.

Who thought that it would lead to totalitarity?

Karl Marx was a man born in Prussia.

He wrote a manifesto, which he thought was the solution.

It read as,“Let the ruling classes tremble at Communist revolution.”

With this, Marx was forcefully expelled to London.

The damage was already done, though, and so we move to Russian.

After centuries of monarchy and a couple global conflicts,

the Russian populace decided to resist.

In 1901, came the Socialist-Revolutionary Party.

It’s a mouthful, but they came out with support from the army.

During World War 1, they stormed the Winter Palace,

millions of people, all possessing a vengeful malice.

And so, Russia was set as a democracy,

A government that was obviously hypocrisy.

They used Marx’s manifesto as a backing claim,

To spread the idea of communism

across the world, a dark flame.

The USSR, and they were all across Europe.

After World War two, down fell an iron curtain.

Communism in the East, Capitalism in the west.

Both sides thought their ideals were best.

During this cold war, Communism’s reaches spread,

Until the man of steel, Stalin was found dead.

The man was a cruel tyrant, of course,

Killed anyone who disagreed, that’s how he did enforce.

Following this came a string of people filling the void,

Each one of them progressively more paranoid.

Until the bright day the wall in Berlin fell,

The fool in charge, Gorbachev, decided not to dwell.

The USSR ultimately collapsed,

But not without leaving its fair share of states attached.

Korea, China, Cuba, Vietnam,

All of these countries, hit by a communist bomb.

Fortunately, this is the end of our tale.

None of these countries have met the scale.

Compared to the USSR, of course,

Without its driving force,

Communism will die.

With no one to shed a tear, no one to cry.

And so, at the end of the day,

Man’s ideas, born of evil,

Will eventually fade.

The scar will totally heal,

And there will be no one left to appeal.
