In 1939 A.D. the darkness did ascend,

The nations went to war and those bright peaceful years did end,

To fight against an evil like the world had never seen,

But in those bloody early years all hope did end it seemed,

Three tyrants’ shadows swept the map, and taking all they saw,

They soon pinned countless nations underneath their iron claw.

Despite the odds, the freedom-loving nations did unite!

For freedom and democracy, they fought the bitter fight!

A truly world-wide, global war, it raged across the map,

From Tinian, Saipan and Guam, to Normandy and back.

A war that tore the world apart, claimed fifty million lives,

We never could have known of its unprecedented size.

Six bloody years did pass before a lasting peace achieved,

And for their fallen soldiers all the nations mourned and grieved.

And to prevent another war, which would lead to ruination,

The freedom-loving Allies put forth a new organization.

Symbolized by olive branch, ’twas meant to keep the peace,

And to prevent a third World War, at the very least,

But we must learn from history, to prevent a war that size.

We must learn not to believe an evil tyrant’s lies.

We cannot bow to evil, no; we must unite and defeat it,

For those who don’t learn from history are forever doomed to repeat it.
