Title: Guilt

The light drew nearer,
brighter.
I heard the horn.
I felt nothing.

I heard the EMT's
the paramedics.

I heard my mom crying,
Praying.

I felt helpless,
dead.
But I had hope

I heard the doctors say
she's going to be all right
and again my mother sobbed

holding her tightly was my father,
my emotionless father
surrendering to the sadness
and he himself shed few but meaningful tears.

I awoke
and I heard it all.
I heard that I was driving drunk
and in turn killed the driver I hit,

an old man
eighty two years old
on his way home to see his wife

guilt.

"This will certify that the above work is completely original."
