Roses and Thorns
How can love make the heart grow-
When often it breaks it open-
And leaves it to bleed?
How can love be so sweet-
When at times it leaks poison -
Into your heart- deteriorating your soul?
How can love be so soothing-
When at times it makes you feel such pain-
A searing in your guts- and a tearing in your soul?
How can love make you feel strong-
When sometimes it feels like it's pushing you down?
How can love make you feel so alive-
And then make you wish you had died?
How can love make you feel so loved-
But sometimes you've never felt so alone?
Why can't love just be a rose-
Why does it have to have thorns?
