Our Truck
From the back of our truck
He said with a smile,
We might see a shooting star.
I thought to myself, “That would be perfect.”
He asked what I would wish for,
I told him nothing, with a smile
while moving in closer to him because
everything I ever wanted was already here.
From the back of the truck
we fell asleep with no worries—
just us lying there together,
letting the night fade away…
On a night when the moon was full,
we slept through the night
and awoke to a sun where
the moon stayed that very night.
From the passenger seat of our truck
I looked back as we drove off
once again leaving a wonderful place behind
as the home we left so many years ago.
We drove off and kept going
until the moon was full again;
then we stayed in the back of
our truck once more…
