Cleansed
I wash off these burdens; they’re holding me down,
They suffocate me till I’m scared that I’ll drown.
Think I’ll take off my worries; I’ll throw them away,
I never quite thought that my color was gray.
Today is the day that I’ll rinse off my sighs,
And, now that I’m at it, I’ll shave off my cries.
With this cleansing about, I’ll shampoo my troubles,
Scrub them all down till they’re lost in the bubbles.
Well, here I am, cleaned, with my glistening skin,
Yet I can't wash off monsters that come from within.
