The dark shadows of sorrow crept in my mind
Cold disappointment sliding through
Defeat and tears turn me blind
And every step in my journey i rue.
Failures overshadow my travelled path
Conscience begs me to relinquish
Somewhere deep inside my heart
I hope and pray and cry and wish
If only i could taste the sweetness
of victory i deserve
If only life hadn't witnessed
Such unpleasant a swerve
Then again a flame comes alive somewhere within
Feeble, timid and yet it burns
Under uncertainity it remains hidden
And faint hope it discerns.
