October Rain
Grey rain trickling down
Close the curtains-
Shut it out!
Cold rain washes down my soul
Leaving the air I breathe
Chilled.
Grey water cupped
in my palms
Bring my face close to it:
It smells
Like grass and air and
the sea's tears,
freezing my soul.
Slugging fingers on the keys
Jumbled thoughts for intellect
Sniffling, trembling, hiding from the
Heavy, mean old sky.
Music decays into discord
And my soul is turned away from this world.
Cruel old, grumpy old
Rain.
